| Bio: | I only know what the hell I'm doing with myself about half the time. This journal is the story of the other half. I'm a librarian. Soon to be working for a Large University near you. I have the glasses and bun, but also knee-high red Doc Martens. I work in the sciences but was educated in literature; I'm good at concealing my ignorance. I'm also a quick study. I read like my life depends on it. I like to cook, I like to walk around the city, I like theory and nature and technology and art and community and travelling. I had an unusual childhood. I laugh and sigh and grimace a lot. I'm deeply attached to the Internet. I like the feel of old book bindings, the smell of farmer's markets, rain on my face, figuring out a new city's metro, strong coffee in the mornings. Here, though, I mostly like to blather on about what I'm up to and thinking about, which could be almost anything at all. I also work on Wikipedia and stuff. And I've been doing it for long enough that yeah, I can probably answer your questions about the site. In answer to the (perhaps unasked) question: is this a personal journal, or an emotional diary, or a log of the projects and ideas that shape my world, or notes on awesome and important things, or more about Wikipedia than you ever wanted to know, or a chronicle of my mundane life: the answer is, this journal is a little bit of all of that. It's a mixture that I can't quite quit. So no, not everything will be interesting to everyone; the personal and mundane is mixed with the important, in ways indefinable and I like to think true. N.B.: about a third of the entries are friends-locked; often they are simply discussing my personal life in a way that I don't want Google to archive forever. Friend me if you like. Tell me who you are when you do, though, and how you found me.
